Ukraine at the European Love Novel Prize 2026–2027

The PromoUkraïna Association is honored to represent Ukraine for the second time at the European Love Novel Prize organized by the Council of Europe Staff Amicale. The fourth edition of the prize brings together eleven novels from eleven Council of Europe member states.

The official launch took place on 31 January 2026 at the National and University Library of Strasbourg (BNU) as part of the “Bibliothèques idéales d’hiver” program.

This year Ukraine is represented by the novel by renowned Ukrainian author Maria Matios “Almost Never the Other Way Around”, a deep and emotionally rich work exploring human destinies, love, and life choices.

Last year, Ukraine was represented by Sofia Andrukhovych’s “Felix Austria”, which received a very warm reception from the European audience.

The 2026–2027 edition includes entries from Germany, Austria, Spain, France, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Switzerland, and Ukraine. Readers and the jury will vote throughout the year.

The prize is supported by numerous partners, including Book1, Médiathèque André Malraux, the City of Strasbourg, the Council of Europe Amicale, the Consulates General and Permanent Representations to the Council of Europe, the Goethe-Institut, Alliance Française Strasbourg Europe, the Italian Cultural Institute, the Spanish Language School, and PromoUkraïna.

Public voting runs from late January to late October 2026 and is accompanied by a series of literary events, including the festival “Ces pages d’Amour”.

We warmly invite readers to join the reading program, attend related events, and take part in the public vote to support Ukrainian literature on the European stage.
